Bay View Villa

Sleeps up to 8

This Balinese inspired villa sits atop a small headland at the entrance to Dian Bay, with all encompassing views of Devil’s Bridge National Park. Designed to make use of the cooling tradewinds this is a sophisticated, open villa for groups seeking beautiful surroundings and privacy.

Bay View Villa is set in over three acres of wild and natural parkland and Long Bay, one of the best of Antigua’s 365 beaches, is only five minutes away. It has been designed as a series of interconnected buildings linked by paths and gardens planted with a wide variety of tropical plants and trees. It is these fruit trees that infuse the villa with the exotic smell of mangoes and lime. The villa has been designed to the highest possible standard by one of the Caribbean’s leading architects in contemporary Caribbean style with Balinese detailing. This Oriental theme is apparent throughout, whether picked up by the solid wood columns and screens, specially hand-carved in Bali, the exotic colour scheme or the Indonesian furniture. The infinity edged freshwater swimming pool with its spectacular view across the bay makes for breathtaking morning dips. There is private access to the sea from the property giving access to excellent shallow water snorkelling.

Guest Book

"My family stayed at Bay View Villa for a week, and wished we had gone for longer. Very stylish and comfortable, we loved the detailing which made it like a home, rather than just a rental villa. The kitchen was beautifully equipped, and a pleasure to cook in, it made catering on holiday easy. We did eat out a couple of times, Mama Pasta down the road did excellent pizzas and their old fashioned rum punch went down easily. The beach at Long Bay we decided was the nicest on the island, although Half Moon Bay came a close second. We snorkelled in the bay in front of the house, saw a turtle, lobster, and a moray eel. The staff were great, and the house manager met us at the house and showed us how everything worked, explained everything, and was close by should we have needed her, but we didnt! The Balinese gazebo was our favourite place to relax with a book, and a glass of wine, and watch the pelicans diving into the bay. All in all a great villa, and we would recommend this to anyone. Hope to be back one of these days."

Destination introduction

Antigua is renowned for its wealth of historic interest, stunning beaches, the now legendary Antigua Sailing Week and of course its profound love of cricket. Miles of picturesque coves and palmfringed bays surround the island, and with a dry climate, trade winds and plenty of sunshine, this is the perfect destination for sun worshippers, yachtsmen and watersports enthusiasts.

Scenically, Antigua is quite different from islands like Grenada and St Lucia, and has panoramic seascapes, undulating landscapes and cactus dotted hillsides. It has a strong colonial past and displays a visible history in attractions like English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard, an 18th century naval station named after the Lord Admiral who was based there for a number of years. Today the dockyard has been sympathetically restored and is still important to modern day seafarers, especially during Sailing Week when the whole area comes alive. Antigua’s long history is evident throughout the island, and nowhere more so than in the capital, St John’s. Here you will find the cathedral, built on a site dating back to the 17th century, Redcliffe Quay with its carefully restored warehouse, taverns and docks, and the museum of Antigua.

But the attraction of Antigua lies in its sparkling coral sand beaches (they say there are 365 of them), its unspoilt countryside and its unhurried laid-back lifestyle. Explore a little by car; the absence of good road signs makes it more of a challenge, but you won’t get lost as there will always be a smiling local to set you back on track.
