Set amidst an area of exceptional beauty, the combination of size, landscaping and use of local materials all adds to the relaxing natural and peaceful atmosphere of the property.

Entering through wooden gates, a driveway with a large covered parking area is revealed with an imposing island feature of rocks and mature trees. From the driveway a Thai-style Sala entrance leads you on a stone pathway through the extensive gardens and the two pavilions which make up the living quarters. The path leads down steps onto a terraced area, over stepping stones across lily pond with water features, and onto the swimming pool. Here imposing trees and wild tropical plants create naturally shaded areas, to enjoy with a book or for inquisitive children to discover the outlandish specimens. The two pavilions combine traditional Thai architecture with modern facilities, complemented by Asian ornaments and artworks throughout. From the driveway, the Pavilion on the left is home to an open-plan living and dining area with vaulted ceilings and polished wooden floors. At one end is a study which can double up as a Nanny’s room or playroom, with a connecting double ensuite bedroom and private terrace leading to the garden. The second double ensuite bedroom has a separate entrance with views other the lily pond, pool and gardens. At the rear of the Pavilion is a fully fitted and well equipped kitchen. The Pavilion is encircled by stone terraces and pathways leading to the outside shower, which lead onto the pool, Sala and barbeque.

The pool terrace has ample sun beds which leads up to the terrace of the second pavilion. This terrace is equipped with a removable wooden railing, great for preventing children from wandering too far. A sophisticated living room and dining area again with wooden flooring and vaulted ceilings, lead into another fully fitted kitchen and laundry room. This pavilion is also home to 2 ensuite double bedrooms and a study/playroom with it’s own ensuite bathroom. This property offers a flexible base for an extended family or perhaps two families travelling together, looking to be able to cater separately and have privacy, whilst enjoying the communal areas together. Standing alone, the property is in a very private location, not overlooked. However the stunning beaches, shops and restaurants are within easy reach.

Destination introduction

Until the Nineteen-Seventies, Koh Samui, Thailand’s third largest island, was isolated, self-sufficient and largely unknown, with no roads at all. The tide of tourism changed all that and now Samui attracts large numbers of visitors. The magnificent, palm-fringed, beaches of white sand are no doubt the main attraction, but Koh Samui has more to offer if you feel inclined to move from those alluring beaches. Apart from the usual water sports, there are possibilities for exploring the rainforest on the back of an elephant, or swinging through the tree canopy, for deep-sea fishing with a very real chance of catching something impressive, for diving and kite-boarding.
