La Montagne

Sleeps up to: 14

It is not difficult to persuade yourself that you can just reach out and touch Table Mountain when you stay at La Montagne. Views like this are rare and precious commodities, yet at this magnificent villa they become a part of everyday life, the backdrop to every activity.

Located in Cape Town’s secluded and very exclusive suburb of Bishopscourt, La Montagne provides an incomparable setting for a dream holiday for a group of friends or family. Parties of up to ten can be accommodated in luxurious comfort, including children, for whom thoughtful provision has been made. With 14,000 square feet of internal living area spread over three levels, there is a marvelous sense of space especially evident in the lavishly spacious bedrooms, all with sitting areas and jasmine-draped terraces and equipped with air-conditioning, beautiful en suite bathrooms and satellite TV.

Decorated in a vivid style often referred to as ‘African Renaissance’, the house repays exploration of its rooms with stunning displays of African art of all kinds. A media and games room is available for indoor amusements along with gym and spa on-site, while outdoors there are gloriously lush gardens, a 10-metre long swimming pool and a floodlit tennis court. With the services of a private chef to call upon, guests have the choice of taking their meals indoors, on the terrace, in the exquisite gazebo with its breathtaking view of the mountains, or, for a very special occasion perhaps, in the dashingly elegant formal dining room. La Montagne is incredibly well-situated for comfortable sightseeing, with the Kirstenbosch Gardens and the Constantia winelands just minutes away. Shopping and sightseeing in central Cape Town is a fifteen minute drive from the villa, as, too, are the famous beaches of the region.

Destination introduction

Cape Town is the oldest European settlement in South Africa, and remains one of the most beautiful and distinctive cities in the world. At the heart of the city’s celebrated buildings is the Castle of Good Hope, a national landmark on Buidekant Street and now a captivating museum. In fashionable Adderley Street, a large exquisite garden complex houses several significant buildings including the elegant National Gallery, the South African Museum with its domed Planetarium, the Cultural History Museum in the old slave lodge and the Tuynhuys, the current residence of South Africa’s state president. The premier waterfront development of Victoria and Alfred at Table Bay Harbour is a cosmopolitan promenade of entertainment, shopping and markets, first class accommodation, magnificent restaurants and the massive Two Oceans Aquarium on Dock Road.

The flat-topped Table Mountain with its massive vertical sandstone cliffs is one of the most famous landmarks in the world and a national monument. Travel in style by cable car to the summit for awe-inspiring views of the coastline and the magnificent landscape surrounding Cape Town. Drive along the Table Mountain circular drive, where you can take in breathtaking vistas of Camps Bay beneath the impressive rock formations known as the Twelve Apostles. Together with Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and the rest of the peninsula, Table Mountain forms part of the Cape floral kingdom, one of only six such kingdoms in the world.
