Dar Sana is quite different from other riad hotels in the city of Marrakech – most of all, perhaps, because it has only two bedrooms and sleeps only four guests and is only ever let as a whole.

This inevitably gives it a unique intimacy and charm, wonderful for two couples holidaying together, or for a small family (no children under 14 however).

Occupying two floors, it has been furnished with the sure touch of a skilled designer, each of its rooms a set piece of African or Indian-influenced colour and décor. It is perfect for a holiday at any time of the year, with facilities ranging from fireplaces in sitting and dining rooms for cool evenings, to air-conditioning in the en suite bedrooms, a tented roof-terrace and a shady courtyard patio with fountain for summer living.

Dar Sana is a most appealing town hideaway, located in a district of Marrakech, close to the Bab Doukkala mosque, that retains the authentic atmosphere of the old city, with a local market and vibrant shopping street. There is easy access for cars and taxis, and the famous souks and other sights of Marrakech are ten minutes away, while some of the city’s best restaurants are only minutes away.

Guests will enjoy the ministrations of the smiling Hakima, the housekeeper, throughout the day. She will prepare breakfast everyday and for an extra charge can also provide lunch or dinner when required.

The riad is also staffed by two tortoises, Ali and Nino, that were rescued from the souk.

Children under 14 are not permitted.

Price start from £1150 per week for up to 4 sharing, and includes daily breakfast.

It would also be possible to add use of La Maison Arabe's country club for the day, where there is a pool, and lunch included.

Different durations, flights, transfers and excursions can also be arranged.

Destination introduction

The rich history of Marrakech is reflected in its various quarters. the Medina, above which rises the minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque, the emblem of the city, corresponds to the old town. Place Jemaa El-Fna, the hub of all activity, is its heart. Within the ramparts are the souks (north of Place Jemaa El-Fna), the kasbah and the mellah (the Jewish quarter). Gueliz in the northwest, is the new town laid out by Marhsal Lyautey under the Protectorate. It is filled with Western style offices and businesses.

Avenue Mohamed V is the district's main thoroughfare. Extending Gueliz in  the southwest is Hivernage, a verdant quarter with many hotels that also dates from the Protectorate. The district is bordered on its western side by the Menara Gardens, and on its eastern side by the walls of the medina.
