At CV Travel, we have a number of charities that we support through a donation for each post- holiday questionnaire
received back. This year our designated charities are; Children in Distress, CARE (Corfu Animal Rescue Establishment)
and Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Children in Distress, is a small charity with its mission to offer love and care to children in Eastern Europe living
with HIV Aids or other incurable or terminal illlness. Since 1990 the volunteers and staff of Children in Distress
have worked to alleviate the suffering of abandoned and forgotten children of Eastern Europe, irrespective of their
race, religion or creed.
Overseas we are committed to working with CARE, in Corfu, who have rehomed over 1000 stray animals in the last four
years. We provide more information in resort and enable local contributions to be made.
Macmillan Cancer Relief, a charity that continues to push for better care of people affected by cancer, has been
supported by us for many years now and is the most popular charity with our clients.
In addition, we support through different ways, other charities overseas. Back in Corfu, we have welcomed the
opportunity to give something back to the local community by making a substantial contribution towards the
construction of a new church in St Stephano.
In Paxos, we help PAWS (Paxos Animal Welfare Society) through offering complimentary accommodation to its
volunteers. On the island there is no regular veterinery service, a large cat population and an increasing
number of stray dogs. PAWS organises sterilization, inoculations and health checks, and have set up feeding
stations throughout the year.
In Morocco, we have offered financial support for a mobile dental unit in Marrakech, which is an initiative
created by the Palmtree Foundation. It is well known that the high sugar diet of Moroccans (consisting of a
great deal of mint tea), is causing major problems and misery to their teeth. Similar charity projects in other
parts of the world have picked up on mouth and tongue cancers, and, as with all cancers, the earlier the treatment
the better the prognosis. The mobile dental unit allows many inhabitants in remote areas to see a dentist for the
first time in their lives, where their teeth will be checked and minor treatments administered. The mobile unit
will not be able to treat cancer, but the dentists will certainly be able to refer patients for treatment at local
hospitals. We will be closely following the progress after the arrival of the unit in Marrakech in February 2007.
Overall, all tourism potentially has an environmental, social and economic impact on the destination involved.
As much as we are able, we undertake to:
- Protect the Environment - its flora, fauna and landscapes.
- Respect local cultures - traditions, religions and built heritage.
- Benefit local communities - both economically and socially.
- Conserve natural resources - from office to destination
- Minimise pollution - through noise, waste disposal and congestion.
Through our membership of the Association of Independent Tour Operators, we are part of an initiative to
advocate Responsible Tourism. All AITO members are encouraged to submit a Responsible Tourism Policy and AITO
has set up a star system in order to recognise Tour Operators' work in this area.

CV Travel is proud to have been awarded 2 stars and will continue to work towards evermore responsible tourism.
