DESTINATION INFORMATION

Though smaller than Mallorca, Ibiza’s scenery is just as dramatic; mountainous and largely tree-clad, scattered with villages and buildings that are strongly reminiscent of an Aegean island, with their flat roof terraces, brilliantly white walls and narrow,protective alleyways. The coastline is wild and indented, with high cliffs and promontories interspersed with sandy coves, colourful harbours and beach resorts. To many people, Ibiza is synonymous with non-stop partying, but though there are some sophisticated beach resorts, home to an exuberant nightlife, this is not all the island has to offer. Inland, there are tree-shaded roads that wind from one ancient hilltop village to another, through pinewoods and almond groves, and most of the coastline is quiet, with pine-fringed beaches and superb rock bathing.
