Steeped in history its impregnable position made it one of the last Moorish strongholds to fall to the Christians. Rising from the plateau the town is divided into old and new by El Tajo, a deep gorge, which is spanned by an 18th century bridge which used to house a prison. The famous bullring is the oldest and one of the most beautiful in Spain which is open to visitors and has an interesting museum. Ronda is located 50 kms from San Pedro de Alcantara up a winding road through the Sierra Bermaja. One of the most fascinating towns in Andalucia with a wide range of cafes and restaurants - it is well worth a visit.
