| Our clients staying at the idyllic Hotel Il Pellicano near Porto Ercole have no idea that further along the coast is this unusual and more than comfortable home, set in extensive and very private gardens of pine trees and shrubs. The character of its interesting and much travelled owner is evident everywhere in her eclectic collection of books, china artefacts and vibrant colours of its furnishings – with its dash of Mexico, the Orient, Africa and bohemian Italian to make a wonderfully unusual and welcoming place to stay. Its owner loves entertaining, ensuring guests will enjoy the very outside barbecue areas. A large open plan sitting/dining room, leads to a charming sunken sitting area with fireplace, cosy even on the wettest day. From here steps lead up to an open mezzanine/study area for writing or reading from where it is quite easy to be inspired looking down to the panorama of sea and sky. Outside, there is a charming covered dining area, and extensive terraces with sunbeds for sun, shade or idly chatting. A rough pathway/steps lead down to a sunbathing area, with fantastic rock formations and private places to sunbathe and read. At night, sitting watching the sun set over Giglio island opposite is very romantic. Ideal for honeymoons, couples, or those with older children. |
