| Carefully restored to a very high standard with great visual flair and attention to detail, with pretty contemporary fabrics and rugs, whilst preserving a warm welcoming rustic feel. With its stone-flagged floors, exposed beams and colour washed walls, Palazzolaccio is an ideal retreat for a sophisticated adult group or a family with older children. Whilst the elegant sitting room and study area with family photographs, books and works of art has been the scene of many a happy family gathering, special mention must also be made of the farmhouse kitchen, with hanging baskets and a large open fireplace, perfect for roasting meats, and the comfortable bedrooms. Guests will enjoy eating out on the terrace with its spectacular views over the ever changing landscape of the Val d’Orcia: in Spring green fields contrast with bright red poppies, and in Summer the fields turn a deep yellow-gold as the wheat ripens. Some will linger by the pool and BBQ area, whilst others will be keen to go touring as the house is very well located for exploring some of the exquisite hill towns nearby like Pienza, Montepulciano and Cetona, as well as being within easy access of the main Florence/Rome train line for a day trip – both one hour away. Others will simply wish to explore the walking trails of the region, or ride, or cycle along ‘strade bianche’, captivated by the beauty of this very special region of Tuscany. Highly recommended. |
