| One of the main features of the house is the trompe l’oeil decoration on the front and back of L’Uliveto, painted by the owners ancestor, a Governor of Siena in honour of a visit to the Estate by the then ruler of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. It was done to remind the Grand Duke of a farm in his native Austria, although the locals at the time remained rather sceptical as to whether it was truly authentic!! A plaque still commemorates his visit. Uliveto is set at the edge of the hamlet, with beautiful gardens, terraces and pool area facing towards a lovely uninterrupted view of Tuscan countryside. Inside, the house is comfortable and spacious, and provides ideal accommodation for families with two sitting rooms and two kitchen areas which add to this suitability. The owner has provided thoughtful touches to ensure her guests enjoy their stay, with a high ratio of bathrooms to bedrooms, and large comfortable beds. Outside, extensive “wrap-around” terraces provide two areas for outside dining al fresco under a rose covered shaded pergola or under umbrellas, and extensive lawns provide endless play areas for children. Steps lead down to the large pool area, well equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas for total relaxation, with views of vineyards, olive trees and rolling hills. A shared tennis court nearby provides an excuse for an energetic game with friends and an evening walk round this beautifully run farm and Estate is truly magical. |
