| Designed with children very much in mind, the villa has straightforward access to the sandy beach from its garden, but its chic simplicity and cool spaciousness will also appeal to an adult party seeking a relaxed and fairly laidback holiday. Recently built, Kalokairi is very much a reflection of modern trends in holiday homes in Corfu – spacious, comfortable and contemporary in design, without sacrificing the distinctive charm of the Corfiot architectural style. Built on two levels, the main floor has a wide, partly-covered terrace that wraps around two sides of the house and enjoys pretty views out to sea through the olive trees of the property. While the kitchen is handsomely furnished for indoor meals, it will be very hard to ignore the attraction of eating outdoors on the broad terrace, with the sound of the sea a gentle background accompaniment. The extensive lower floor has been imaginatively designed to house a big, informal activity room with couches on which to sprawl and watch TV or DVDs, a ping pong table and a pool table, and plenty of games and toys and the space in which to play with them. There is a large dormitory-style bedroom with its own bathroom, ideal for children of any age. Guest bedrooms and bathrooms occupy the rest of the lower floor, from which all rooms have access to a shady terrace, the garden and the swimming pool. The garden runs right down to the Blue Flag sandy beach of Kalamaki, and the beautifully-situated swimming pool, with its honey-coloured stone terraces, offers guests the pleasure of indulging in the choice between sea and pool bathing. Renting a boat to explore the coastline is part of the fun of a seaside holiday, and certainly adds an extra dimension to a holiday at this lovely villa, but it should be noted that due to the fine sandy nature of the beach, boats cannot be moored there for any length of time, and rented boats returned to their Kassiopi base daily.
