| Villa Sami is also very conveniently placed for enjoying the distinctive charms and amenities of St Stephano. At Avlaki, a short drive or even a walk away downhill, there is a wonderful, long beach and facilities for dinghy sailing and windsurfing. Villas Sami and Olivina were both completed in 2008 and are under the same ownership. The architect and the owners have, in each case, subtly blended Corfiot tradition and an English sense of comfort, spicing the mix with some exotic touches of Moroccan and Indian design. The relationship between these diverse elements is harmonious and pleasing and has created a house that is very easy on the eye. A pleasant covered terrace provides an ideal setting for outdoor meals and opens on to the honey-coloured stone terraces that enclose the delightful kidney-shaped swimming pool, its pale turquoise water a contrast with the deeper shades of blue in the sea views. Looking beyond the graceful olive trees that sweep down the hillside below the villa, the eye is drawn by the tiny Kaparelli island that lies in the middle of the Corfu Channel. Imagine lying on a sunlounger with that view to distract you from your paperback, ice cubes gently melting in the drink beside you, and you get some idea of how undemanding a stay at Villa Sami can be. Fully air-conditioned and bathed by the afternoon sea breezes, the heat of summer is no deterrent here. |
