Selecting Car Group and Model
We advise all guests to check with our Travel Experts on the suitability of the vehicle for their requirements and the villa of their choice. The relatively small upgrade cost ensures maximum comfort, as well as extra luggage capacity. Group A cars have little space for luggage and also have relatively small engines. We advise parties of four or more staying at villas with steep and/or unsurfaced drives should always upgrade the car group or consider a four wheel drive.
For arrivals on late flights, guests may prefer to take a private taxi transfer and cars can be delivered the next day. Please ask your Travel Expert for a quotation for this service.
Collecting the Car
Cars are collected from the airport or port of arrival. In order to facilitate car collection, please complete the Car Hire Questionnaire (included with final documentation) and return to our UK office at least 14 days prior to departure. Please ensure all named drivers are clearly listed to avoid additional driver charges on arrival.
General Terms and Conditions for Car Hire
Applicable to all Car Hire in Greece, unless otherwise specified in the specific information for your destination.
a) Cars should be returned with the same amount of fuel as shown on the contract on collection. No refunds will be given for excess fuel.
b) A credit card (Debit/Electron/Pre-pay cards are not accepted) is required by car hire companies on collection. In some destinations, a cash deposit can also be accepted. Please see specific information for your destination.
c) Please ensure you fully understand the local charges you are incurring when the car hire rental agreement is signed on arrival. In particular, insurance cover. Any charges will be charged to your credit card or debited from your cash deposit on departure.
d) In accordance with EU regulations, children under 5 years of age must use a child restraint appropriate to their weight in all cars except when travelling in the rear of taxis. Infants up to 20lbs (9kgs) require an infant seat and ‘toddler seats’ are for children 20 - 40lbs (9-18kgs).
It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that child/infant seats are of a satisfactory size and condition on collection. CV Travel accepts no responsibility for the failure of car companies to supply the requested seats.
If you are worried about the suitability of car seats, we advise guests to bring their own.. However CV Travel cannot be held responsible if individual car fittings do not comply with child seats brought by our guests nor can this eventuality be conditional upon the booking.
e) All cars are now fitted with rear seat belts in accordance with EU regulations.
Not all rear seat belts are shoulder belts, some may be lap belts. If shoulder belts are required, please add this as a request on your booking form.
f) All car rental booked by CV Travel includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance. Accident excess amounts may apply. Please see specific information for the required destination.
In most cases, there is an option to reduce or eliminate your liability for this excess by purchasing further insurance.
Damage to the undercarriage of the vehicle, punctures and damaged tyres or wheels are your responsibility and not covered by any insurance.
g) EU citizens do not require an international driving licence but the licence must be produced on collection. If guests have new style photocard licence, both the photocard and the paper counter part of the photocard style licence must be presented.
Guests with drivers licences issued in USA, Canada, Africa and Australia require an international driving licence. We advise all other nationalities to check with their motoring organisation.
Drivers must have held a full, valid licence for 1 year unless otherwise stated.
h) Minimum age restrictions apply for drivers. Please see specific information for your destination.
i) Cars can be delivered to villas or hotels on all islands for an additional charge. Please ask for a quotation.
j) Rental cars being returned to the airport should be returned 2½ hours prior to the flight departure. Cars must be returned on time and car hire companies reserve the right to charge a full days’ rental in the event cars are returned more than 29 minutes late.
k) The car hire rates quoted apply only to vehicles booked pre-departure through our UK office.
l) Should passengers and luggage exceed the car capacity, alternative transport must be arranged at an additional cost, and should be arranged pre departure through our UK office.
m) We are unable to confirm specific models of vehicle. Car hire companies reserve the right to provide an alternative car from another group, if the group you have booked is unavailable. If the replacement is from a cheaper group, an appropriate refund will apply.
n) Disputes or complaints should be dealt with locally. Where a refund is in order, written agreement must be obtained from the car hire representative. The refund will then be made upon application to CV Travel in the UK, provided it is received within 28 days of return.
o) All car hire prices are at the prevailing rate of Greek VAT which may be subject to change. Prices for optional services and extras are subject to Greek VAT at the prevailing rate (unless otherwise indicated) and are subject to amendment and change
p) It is imperative to comply with local driving and road regulations at all times. In the case of accidents, where it can be proven that in causing the accident the driver of the hired vehicle was contravening the rules of the road, vehicle insurance and any waivers in respect of damage excesses will be null and void. This also applies if the driver of the is found to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or toxic products. In addition vehicles that are hired also cannot be used for competitions, racing, rallying of any sort.
