Brazil

Destination Information

This destination

Brazil is a land of superlatives. Its dense Amazon rainforest is home to an unparalleled diversity of life with 2.5 million species of insects, tens of thousands of plants and over two thousand bird and mammal varieties. The lguazu Falls thunder along a three kilometre-wide precipice on the Argentinian border - Niagara is a mere trickle in comparison. Brazil is host, too, to the biggest street parties in the world - the four days of "Carnival" in February are an explosion of colour, rhythm and dance.

Our villas in Brazil are located in two main areas, the north-eastern Bahia region and the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Casa do Morro is located in Trancoso, Bahia-one of the 'coolest' beach destinations in South America. The villa is set upon a low bluff overlooking huge palm-fringed beaches and the quaint, colourful houses of the small town. Evenings are spent sipping caipirinhas and browsing antique shops, boutiques and stalls where local art and the work of the chicest Brazilian designers can be found side-by-side. This laid-back atmosphere attracts the biggest stars in Brazil and from further afield, knowing that they will find privacy and fun-laden relaxation in this idyllic setting.

Twelve kilometres away along the beach is Arraial d'Ajuda, Bahia. For those seeking a peaceful and privileged cliff top location the Casa Pop is one of our most remote villas in Brazil. It seems to float like a ship on the billows of the Atlantic Rain Forest, with lively shell-scattered beaches just five minutes walk away.

The Coconut House lies a short distance along the beach from the picturesque village of Canavieras in Southern Bahia. Abundant in fresh fish and seafood restaurants, this attractive colonial port of pastel-coloured mansions was built during the Cacao boom and has some of the best deep-sea fishing in the Americas. Visitors invariably feel as if they have chanced upon an untouched corner of the world here and our beautiful villa makes the ideal setting for a holiday spent discovering new experiences.

Located in the hills of Rio de Janeiro in the historic quarter of Santa Teresa, is the Solar de Santa. Set within magnificent gardens in Rio's best-preserved neighbourhood, Solar is one of our most prestigious villas in Brazil. It is just a stone's throw away from the nightlife and samba beats of Lapa, and only fifteen minutes away from the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema.

Some 300km from vibrant Rio is Paraty, a colonial town of cobbled streets and old white-washed houses, of which the Casa Paraty is a beautiful example. Poised between the sierra and the sea, the old town is one of the prettiest and most dramatically located in Brazil.
