Coastal Andalucia
East of Malaga
An hour east of Malaga located between the two attractive promontories of Punta de la Mona and Cerro Gordo, La Herradura is pretty and unspoilt. Water sports and scuba diving are popular here, thanks to the variety of sea life and clarity of the water. Closer to Malaga is Comares, where old Spain still exists with its small charming fishing villages and white mountain villages. Here our CV Spain Casa Amarilla is set in the beautiful mountain landscape of the Sierra Tejeda, and ideal spot for relaxation or sightseeing alike.
West of Malaga
Take the road west from Malaga and just 20 minutes from the highlife of Marbella, the beautiful Andalucian village of Istan is a delight, where the brillance of the white painted houses contrasts perfectly with the green slopes of the Sierra Blanca. Istan means 'spring' and throughout the village you will find many springs, flowing with fresh water. Towards the coast is Mijas. If there were ever a typical Spanish village worthy of a visit then Mijas, perched high on the hillside, must be it. Whitewashed houses cling to the steep hillside and tiny shops lime many of its beautiful streets, all brimming with ceramics, leatherwork, jewellery and paintings. Its neighbour, Puerto banus, a busy Marina is the most fashionable resort in Southern Spain, not only for some of the most impressive yachts in the world, but also as one of the most popular locations for dining and nightlife in the Medirerranean, From here, the coast road sweeps through the once sleepy fishing village of Estepona, with its 23km of sandy beaches and on to Gibraltar, gateway to Africa. The Costa de la Luz, the 'coast of light' on the western side of Andalucia's coastline is blessed with beautiful, expansive fine sand beaches backed by dunes and pine groves. Looking out over the Atlantic stretching from Ayamonte to Tarifa, from the mouth of the Guadiana River to the Strait of Gibraltar, this section of the Spanish coast has enjoyed minimal development compared with its easterly neighbour the Costa del Sol. Inland wild sierras, world-renown vineyards and hidden villages can be found, and a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. Welcome cooling breezes typify this area that remains a relatively secret gem. Properties tend to be simpler and not as luxurious, but have been selected for their proximity to the beach and charm.
Pastotal Andalucia
The mountains start to rise just forty five minutes west of Malaga. Drive up from Estepona and first you come to Casares, a unique Spanish village nestled in the hillside with white painted houses interlaced with tiny streets. Guests of CV Spain Casa Monte can enjoy tiny village shops selling local produce hidden around every corner with a scattering of small bars and cafes thrown in for good measure.
