A small hamlet in the Axarquia district, which is known locally for its pleasant climate, that delivers peace and relaxation in abundance. Stunning mountain scenery surrounds you here whist Comares is one of the highest Pueblos Blancos in Andalucia. Typically Moorish in its layout this pretty village features colourful plaques contrasting against the white washed walls depicting the village’s important place in history.

Comares Festivals

January 5th - Cabalgata de Los Reyes (Three Holy Kings/Wise Men). Traditional Spanish celebrations.

January 13th - Fiesta de San Hilario. A procession held in honour of the villages patron saint, followed by a Mass. A festival including a huge paella and entertainment is usually held on the nearest Saturday.

February 28th - Andalucia Day. A public holiday for the Andalucia Region.

Semana Santa (Holy Week) - Religious events & processions leading up to Easter weekend.

Mid May - Village fair and a festival of international dance.

Late July - Fiesta of Verdiales. An annual celebration of regional folk music.

Mid August - Feria de Las Cuevas. A 3 day annual event featuring horseback & motorcycle races, traditional music & choirs, finishing with a large firework display.

Late August - Feria de Comares. A cultural & folkloric festival featuring music & comedy, cycle races, indoor football and tapas!

Early September - Night of the Candles.
