Renato's Tower

This former medieval hamlet, brought into the 21st Century by its delightful owner, provides excellent accommodation either for one private group or split into individual properties for smaller parties, with an unusually large, heated swimming pool. Located in rural Umbria, yet only a short distance to the Tuscan border, it is the choice of those who want to explore the best art and treasures of both areas.

Part of the hamlet of Borgo San Biagio, this tower will greatly appeal to those wishing to find a wonderfully eccentric and romantic place to stay. Featured in a best-selling honeymoon guide, the tower is great for couples looking for a unique holiday setting. There is a different room on each floor of this rustic home finishing with a hot tub on your very own roof terrace complete with 360 degree views of the Umbria countryside. There is also a large heated pool on the hamlet shared exclusively between those staying in the Borgo San Biagio.

Guest Book

Clients in 2010 have said: -

"Quite possibly the most romantic place in the world. We have been lucky enough to have the most gloriously sunny week. Consequently we have done very little to speak of preferring to spend our days on top of this remarkable tower. Favourites when we did venture out were Montone (truly beautiful and blissfully no tourists) and Gubbio. We will miss the privacy and seclusion of the tower, the views for miles and beautiful countryside. With great sadness to be leaving such a wonderful place, we now embark on our 16 hour drive back..!"

These have been devised for guests who are arriving late or guests who recognize they may be delayed and arrive with no time to do shopping. We can adapt these hampers to take into account allergies, dislikes and dietary requirements, or according to whether there are children in the party. Destination introduction

Umbria is one of the most beautiful areas of Italy.  Perugia, the region's capital. is a lively university town packed with artistic treasures (and home to Perugina chocolate), so well worth a visit, as are a host of smaller towns and villages, such as Assisi, Gubbio and Citta di Castello. Few summer visitors will want to miss a visit to Lake Trasimeno, central Italy's largest lake, where they may choose to relax on the shores, enjoy the restaurants of the lakeside towns, or take a ferry to one of the lake's islands.

Some of the most beautiful and culturally rich artistic centres in Italy are to be found in Tuscany so an easy day trip from your chosen Umbrian villa is often a highlight. Florence, with its majestic Duomo immortalised by Brunelleschi and Donatello, beautiful Siena, home of the Palio horse race and the walled town of Lucca are a must see while Arezzo and Cortona are also within easy reach.
