A fabulous, ancient property, recently renovated to a high standard to ensure the highest level of comfort. It enjoys a timeless feeling of “having been there forever” - just waiting to be enjoyed by those who will appreciate the pleasure of staying in part of Tuscany’s heritage. This must be the house that any large family of various ages, or two groups of friends wanting separate but together accommodation, can truly get lost in!

The present owners of this large, private estate originally converted into their family home the much loved Vercenni many years ago, a property which they, and so many of our clients have continued to enjoy over the years. Now they have applied the same formula to another property on the estate, Casa di Sopra, now fabulously and sympathetically restored to the highest quality - yet retaining the same understated character of the nearby Vercenni. The imposing mainly stone exterior, gives little away of its secrets - yet inside there are huge airy, light elegant rooms.

Beautifully decorated and furnished by a well-known interior decorator, the house is a delightful mixture of an artfully contrived understated but definitely sophisticated look. Decorated throughout in grey and cream with splashes of rich colour, the house has a huge dining room, kitchen and terrace, each with its own large dining table. Each of the six bedrooms either has its own en suite bath or shower room, while the tower bedroom on the top floor has a magnificent view. Downstairs lies a games room with table tennis and two further sitting rooms where guests can curl up with a book or watch a a DVD. A huge, modern Smeg fridge-freezer in the kitchen complements an old oil painting adorning the games room. Located over four multi levelled floors, di Sopra has endless and intriguing nooks, crannies, corners to escape to: several sitting rooms with cosy fireplaces and TV for winter months.

Boredom is not an option, with the library and games room. The particularly fine bathrooms are clad in different shades of beautiful marble. Bedrooms are varied, from the fabulously romantic four poster, to a charming single room with tiny balcony. Outside, the dining terrace is an ideal venue for delicious dinners on balmy summer evenings and steps lead up from the gardens to the pool area set into a sheltered sunny terrace. Panoramic views complete this idyllic spot.

Incredibly spacious, this superb property is ideal for any large family of various ages or friends wanting 'separate but together accommodation' Highly recommended and exceptional value. Book early.

Destination introduction

Chianti is perhaps the best known of all Tuscany's varied panoramas. Located between Siena and Florence and known above all for its good wine, Chianti is dotted with pretty hill top towns and villages, green hills, undulating rows of vines, olive groves and swathes of pine and ancient oak. A perfect base for sightseeing, countryside pursuits and shopping trips.

Siena is high on the list of day trips for CV Travellers in Tuscany as it is brimming with beauty, culture, Renaissance art and architecture.  Highly recommended is a visit to the central piazza or 'Campo', the location of the famous Palio horse race, it's colourful cathedral, pretty shops and excellent restaurants.
