Sardinia

Destination Information

This destination

Two hundred kilometres from the Italian mainland, Sardinia has been attacked and ruled by numerous invaders over the centuries and has thus evolved into a fascinating island of contrasting culture and architecture.

The history of the island is sculpted into the landscape, from the mysterious Nuraghic buildings of 1500 BC which litter the hinterland to Mussolini’s land reclaimation and reform, all layers built into this beautiful island. Finally the marauders left, but since then Sardinia has been attracting renowned visitors for many years, D.H Lawrence described it as ‘between Europe and Africa and belonging to nowhere’.

The striking and fashionable Costa Smeralda coastline thoughtfully protected, offers the discerning travellers sheltered white sandy beaches and an azure sea with neolithic rock formations that are indescribable in their beauty.

Stunningly peaceful, tranquil and relaxing all year round, this beautiful island cannot be recommended more highly.
