This destination

CV Travel offers a superb collection of villas in Italy, and over the years we have carefully expanded our portfolio to include some exceptional new properties in Tuscany, Campania, Le Marche, Lake Maggiore, Lazio, Puglia, Umbria, Sicily and Sardinia.

Recent additions include the magnificent Masseria delle Palme, a spacious property in Puglia surrounded by olive trees near the beach. In Sicily, we have two new stylish properties near Trapani in Sicily, Villa la Costa and Villa La Mora. In Umbria we welcome the stunning Poggio della Maddona.

Old favourites include a number of villas in rural Tuscany and Umbria, our quirky towers for two, converted trulli houses, the private hamlets of Borgo San Biagio, the Borgo Bastia Creti properties and even aristocratic residences and palaces.

The highly complex history of Italy has resulted in the great differences between north and south and from region to region. Remains of the Etruscan period are to be found in Tuscany and Lazio, while Ancient Greek ruins (and pockets of people who still speak a kind of Greek!) are evident in Southern Italy.

Needless to say, the legacy of Ancient Rome is still eminently visible. Following the fall of Rome, Italy endured many centuries of internal warfare and unrest, yet somehow the Renaissance bloomed amidst the strife between Popes, Emperors and Kings, between families and city-states.

Modern Italy only began to take shape in the 19th century, and the monarchy established in 1861 lasted until World War II, when Mussolini took charge. In 1948 Italy became a Republic.

No wonder, then, that Italy is a land of castles and fortresses, walled hilltop towns, fortified farmhouses and tall towers. But it is also a country of fabulous art and architecture, stunning museums and art galleries, sublime churches and ancient places where the ghosts of so many shapers of world history walk.

Passionate about the countries and properties that we feature, we are always delighted to welcome back our regular clients, some of whom have been faithfully travelling with CV for over 38 years. They know that our villas in Italy offer the simple pleasures of country living: great food and wines in delightful locations, open-air concerts and opera, getting to know the local people.
