At the point where the Corfu Channel opens out to the north, the coastline undergoes a subtle change – the sea deepens, the winds freshen, and wide bays provide ideal conditions for windsurfing and sailing as these two activities lure enthusiasts again and again to the bays of Avlaki and Coyevinas.
Those of a less active disposition will love lazing around at their villa enjoying the views along the coast, inland to Corfu’s mountains and across the sea to the mainland. At Avlaki, there is an excellent English-run dinghy sailing school as well as horse riding facilities. Not far away is Kassiopi, a busy but still very attractive little harbour town, a good centre for shopping, entertainment and excursions, where tradition and tourism meet, with happy results. Teenagers love Kassiopi for its lively nightlife and trendy shopping; parents love it because it keeps the children happy.
