Herefordshire

Destination Information

This destination

Richly agricultural and one of the least densely-populated counties in Britain, Herefordshire is ideal for a country holiday that lacks for nothing in the way of possibilities. East of the beautiful River Wye valley, the county borders Wales and its rolling hills begin to sharpen into something rather more rugged. Its turbulent history of border wars between the Welsh and the English has left the countryside dotted with ruined castles and grand manor houses to be visited.

Characterised by the dramatic black-and-white timbering of the ancient houses in the market towns and in the countryside, Herefordshire is also a county rich in activities to please everyone, including canoeing, fishing, playing golf, antique-hunting and cycling.

Our properties in Herefordshire are clustered around some beautiful parkland, with sweeping views to the Welsh border, and it may well be that the only activity you feel a need to indulge in is that of breathing the fresh air and listening to the birdsong while sitting out on the porch in the evening.
