Riad Djemanna

This destination:

Riad Djemanna is most conveniently situated for exploring Marrakech – just 10 minutes away from Jemaa-El-Fna Square and close to car parking and a taxi rank. The handsome riad combines the traditional qualities of true Moroccan hospitality with the flair of French ownership.

The lavishly appointed rooms, named after the jewels and semi-precious stones that have inspired their colour schemes, are air-conditioned or heated according to season. Recent renovations have resulted in the creation of five new suites and separate dining room and living rooms, graced by two beautiful inner courtyards, each with its own small plunge pool. Internet services are now available. Sunny roof terraces with traditional Moorish tents for shade and spectacular views provide just the right setting for breakfast or an evening meal. Hours spent exploring the fascinating but dusty world of the souks will be rewarded with a session in the riad’s own hammam or massage room, with a wonderful selection of traditional Moroccan facilities including a steam bath.

Destination introduction

The rich history of Marrakech is reflected in its various quarters. the Medina, above which rises the minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque, the emblem of the city, corresponds to the old town. Place Jemaa El-Fna, the hub of all activity, is its heart. Within the ramparts are the souks (north of Place Jemaa El-Fna), the kasbah and the mellah (the Jewish quarter). Gueliz in the northwest, is the new town laid out by Marhsal Lyautey under the Protectorate. It is filled with Western style offices and businesses.

Avenue Mohamed V is the district's main thoroughfare. Extending Gueliz in  the southwest is Hivernage, a verdant quarter with many hotels that also dates from the Protectorate. The district is bordered on its western side by the Menara Gardens, and on its eastern side by the walls of the medina.
