Bab Firdaus is situated in one of the oldest quarters of the Marrakech Medina, and is a fine old palace, architecturally distinguished, restored and renovated with subtlety and respect for its origins.
Finely engraved plasterwork, ornate cedar wood ceilings and intricately carved doors result in an authentic Moorish charm, in which hand-woven carpets and custom-made furniture play their own part. There are just seven rooms and suites, each one in a different style, but all sharing the eye-catching colours and refined beauty of the traditional Moorish decorative arts. In the main courtyard is a refreshing plunge pool with jet stream, and on the roof there is a Berber tent that commands a fantastic view, and shelters a solarium.
The name of the Riad means ‘Gateway to Heaven’ and while the truth of this cannot be guaranteed, the residence is certainly the gateway to an unforgettable Marrakech experience. Recently acquired by the prestigious Angsana Group, it now boasts a fine rooftop restaurant where exquisite Moroccan and Thai dishes are served in an evocative atmosphere. The guest’s wellbeing is superbly catered for, with a Spa treatment room, hammam and large Jacuzzi. NOTE: The hotel is not suitable for young children
