Riad Aida

This destination:

The Riad Aida is small and exquisite, with just six guestrooms and suites, and a serene, intimate atmosphere.

Situated next door to the famous nineteenth century Bahia Palace, of which it was once a part, the Riad overlooks the courtyards of the Palace and displays some of the same architectural features, such as the magnificent painted wooden ceilings. Riad Aida is decorated in a traditional way, with a perfect balance of both cool and vivid colours. Each guestroom has its own sitting room and fireplace, and benefits from a quiet, private balcony. Meals can be taken in the lovely patio garden, and there are lounges for both summer and winter, as well as a roof terrace with sunloungers. It is here, on the roof, that guests may enjoy one of the wonderful Angsana Spa treatments in the specially equipped Spa Tent. Authentic as it is in every way, the Riad does not ignore the needs of today’s traveler, and provides internet access and air-conditioning throughout. Located in a quiet back street in the Medina, Riad Aida is wonderfully placed for exploring the marvels of Marrakech.

Destination introduction

The rich history of Marrakech is reflected in its various quarters. the Medina, above which rises the minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque, the emblem of the city, corresponds to the old town. Place Jemaa El-Fna, the hub of all activity, is its heart. Within the ramparts are the souks (north of Place Jemaa El-Fna), the kasbah and the mellah (the Jewish quarter). Gueliz in the northwest, is the new town laid out by Marhsal Lyautey under the Protectorate. It is filled with Western style offices and businesses.

Avenue Mohamed V is the district's main thoroughfare. Extending Gueliz in  the southwest is Hivernage, a verdant quarter with many hotels that also dates from the Protectorate. The district is bordered on its western side by the Menara Gardens, and on its eastern side by the walls of the medina.
