An earthquake in 1960 almost totally destroyed Agadir and a rebuilding programme has created a very modern beach resort.
Famous for its sheltered beaches and temperate climate Agadir is a perfect year-round destination. South of Agadir is the Sous National Park, extending along the banks of the Wadi Massi. It is a haven for wildlife and birds, including the extremely rare Bald Ibis.
